This is a growing record of some of the plants and invertebrates found at Moffat Untamed.
These first lists come from vegetation and invertebrate surveys carried out by Buglife in spring and summer 2026, as part of the meadow restoration work. They are a snapshot rather than a complete inventory: weather prevented a full pollinator survey, and the spring plant survey covered a slightly wider area than the meadow itself.
We’ll add to the record as more species appear—or as we become better at plant and insect ID.
Plants recorded
Forty plant taxa were recorded across the spring and summer surveys. The list includes the flowers we hoped to find, the grasses holding everything together—and some of the docks, thistles and nettles currently keeping us honest.

Invertebrates recorded
The weather decided not to cooperate with a full pollinator survey—weather being one of the more predictable features of an upland smallholding. Even so, ten invertebrate species were recorded during the visits.
