Still Here—21 September 2026

After yesterday’s accidental hour-long recording—and its decidedly questionable chough and cuckoo—today’s list feels rather more probable.

Robin, house martin, wren, chaffinch, carrion crow, great tit, meadow pipit, spotted flycatcher, long-tailed tit, blackbird, treecreeper, siskin, blue tit, goldfinch, reed bunting, white wagtail and willow warbler.

Seventeen suggested identifications altogether. The house martins are still here, along with the spotted flycatcher and willow warbler, while today’s stand out identification was a reed bunting. We used to see them a lot around our holding, but haven’t for a few months, so it’s nice to know they are still around.

Birds are identified mainly by sound using the Merlin Bird ID app. The list is a record of what the app detected rather than a confirmed survey, so occasional misidentifications are possible—particularly with unexpected or particularly exotic visitors.
