The first peach is the sweetest
We planted this peach tree in the TimberTunnel last year. Strictly speaking, I probably shouldn’t have allowed it to carry fruit so soon—but it produced one peach, and I couldn’t quite bring myself to remove it.
By late July, after I’d learned to remove the leaves, it was swelling and colouring beautifully. Eventually, we picked it warm from the tunnel, cut it into quarters and shared it between us.
It was utterly delicious and so juicy that one peach suddenly seemed like the best harvest and most complete in the world.
